Outings and Events, Summer 2008

Here is an up to date list of events and outings for this summer. Please note some events are not yet finalised so keep checking here as the page will be updated as soon as details and/or changes are available. Any Committee Member should have firm dates nearer the time of provisional outings, so if you canít visit the web site please ring someone to find out.

 

Saturday 14th June
A boat trip to visit the Calf of Man from Port St Mary. Organised by John Hall.

 

Sunday 22nd June

Selected gardens around the village of St Johns open to the public for one afternoon only. Entrance by brochure, £2 per person. All proceeds to the Western Live at Home Scheme. Open from 1pm until 6pm.

Thursday 3rd July
Visit to Knockaloe at 6pm to see the Wild Flowers - with Andree Dubbeldam.

 

Monday 7th July (Tynwald Day)

Tynwald Exhibition.  We have our usual exhibition in the Homecomer's Marquee, we plan to exhibit a selection of Manx photographs. Any size up to 20" x 16" is OK, but as space is limited smaller photographs would be appreciated. Please hand any suitable photos you have to a committee member before 26th June for selection. If anyone can offer assistance on the day by helping put up/take down our display or be a steward for an hour or two, please advise a committee member - this event is a lot of work so any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

 

19th and 21st July

Mersey River Festival. A few members are planning to go on day trips to Liverpool on both days. Anyone is welcome to join them, buy your own boat ticket and just turn up.

 

Thursday August 7th

A visit to Davison's Ice Cream Factory at 6.30pm with a meal afterwards at the Highwayman at approx 8pm. Please email Doreen with numbers for the meal.

 

Thursday 4th September

A tour of the principal rooms of Milntown House and vintage cars has been arranged for Thursday the 4th Sept at 7pm. This house is one of the few old mansions on the Island and has an interesting history. A meal has been arranged afterwards at the Glen Helen Lodge (in the restaurant) at 8.40pm.
Numbers to the house visit are limited so will anyone wishing to go who has not yet told me please ring me on 842136 or e-mail me. Please also say whether you would like the meal afterwards or not.
